What You Eat Can Contribute To Gum Infection

Gum infection is a common dental condition being experienced by a lot of individuals and it is even the primary reason of tooth loss in adults. There are several reasons why gum infection occurs such reasons may include poor oral care, smoking, excessive alcohol intake and poor nutrition. The body needs adequate amount of nutrition to prevent and fight infections such as gum infection. Proper nutrition that includes vitamin C – rich food or antioxidants strengthens the immune system. It should also include calcium in which helps in fighting gum infections.

There are food that should be avoided for they promote the build up of harmful bacteria. Foods that are rich in sugar, starch and sticky food should be avoided rather include whole foods which offers several nutrients.
